Desktop Support Technician

General Purpose Desktop Support Technician provides user client support on The City Technology Group, LLC client computer, applications, and platforms. Desktop Support Technicians will troubleshoot technical issues and advise on the appropriate action. The City Technology Group is a very dynamic and progressive IT Support and Engineering firm. Tasks and Responsibilities for Desktop Support Technicians

  1. Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, electronically 
  2. Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues 
  3. Research questions using available information resources 
  4. Advise user on appropriate action 
  5. Follow standard help desk procedures 
  6. Log all help desk interactions 
  7. Administer help desk software 
  8. Redirect problems to appropriate resource 
  9. Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention 
  10. Track and route problems and requests and document resolutions 
  11. Prepare activity reports 
  12. Stay current with system information, changes and updates
  13. Technician is required to come equipped with a standard PC repair tool kit, basic CAT5/CAT6 cable tester, twisted pair punch down and a cable fishing tool.

    Education and Experience

    The Desktop Support Technician is sometimes the first level of response to customer support requests. In order for the clients experience to be as comfortable as possible we requires the following:

    1. Working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software, hardware and other equipment
    2. Knowledge of relevant call tracking applications
    3. Knowledge and experience of customer service practices
    4. Related experience and training. Industry standard certifications to include CompTIA A+ and Network + preferred. AAS in a computer related competency preferred.
    5. Knowledge of CAT5e and CAT6 termination at B standard for RJ-45 and patch panel.
    6. Experience with cabling pulling point to point through standard false ceiling and end to end termination and testing.
